Here are a few new sculpture works in progress. Any feedback would be great!
Finally painting again after the huge studio move.
Here are a few shots of the studio and works in progress.
Being an artist is a full time job.
Currently working on this painting ... dealing with layering to achieve debth. I am working with a build up of acrylic washes in darks and lights.
The first few layers make up the underpainting, and show the overall sketch of what I have in mind.
Once I finished the underpainting I began to use a heavier application of paint to make the foreground stand out.
I'm using macro shots of the iris, neurons and muscle fibers for inspiration.
Currently the main problem im running into is figuring out how to deal with color. How to use color to push and pull within the canvas to create the illusion of space.
So far it's taking a lot of work, but slowly I'm getting closer to what I am looking to accomplish.
This ones all about space and creating a space within the cavas rather than focusing on one main figure.
I'm hoping to add some figures into this painting as well but discretely.
More progress pictures to be posted!
Late night sketch time at kaits house. She decided to start a new screen printing company so I decided to help her out with the process!
Successfully printed a few shirts and came up with an interesting creature doodle design.
It's done in my friends sketch book that he passes around and has a bunch of artists do a piece in, so who knows where my sketch will end up.
Hopefully ill be posting more designs ASAP, I really need to start sketching again.
Micron, India ink, sharpie
Working on this currently.. Trying to accomplish debth by using layers.
It's working slowly but surely,
The more water the better.
When I don't like what I'm doing, I always tend to just throw a huge wash over it.
Figure painting class tonight resulted in this...
Working with oils on a live model. I love painting from life <3
The assignment was paint something that makes you uncomfortable.. This guy at my door would make me uncomfortable.
This class is almost over, I got about three paintings I actually like out of it. I think I'm going to do a series of these creeps. Just sketches in ink on top of acrylic under painting washes. I like the 18"x24" canvas, they're five for ten dollars and portable, can't go wrong!
